He gets a total of about 1/4 cup really spread out plus wet food (3 oz a day) but thinking about mixing it up as far as kibble delivery. We use an auto feeder that doles out his kibble like 10 pieces at a time over 24 hours. He does scarf and barf if he has the chance, sadly. He’s super active and needs lots of play and his prey drive is really strong. Was leaning toward the little mice you can put food inside and hiding them around the house for him to find, I think he’d really enjoy the hunt. Thank you! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise freely. One thing I like about this series of toys is that Nina Ottosson has a bunch of videos on YouTube with tips and tricks you can use to make the various puzzles easier or harder so that they're an appropriate challenge for your pet. You can find many of these puzzles in brick and mortar pet stores, and all of them on Amazon. That might be a fun kind of course to try to advance your cat through, once she starts blazing through each of the earlier puzzles. I'd just get whichever one looks cutest or coolest or most fun to you.īuilding on the same skill as the toys above, a slightly more advanced toy adds a central spinning wheel that blocks the paths of the cups.Ĭombining all of these components and adding the single complicating element of stoppers which inhibit the sliding puzzle is the most complex puzzle in the series. There are a couple versions nominally for cats and another version nominally for dogs, but your cat could work any of them. The next skill involves sliding cups, and receptacles those cups push treats into, plus flaps that inhibit the movement of the cups. One is basically an extended version of this puzzle with a single additional constraint: the square in the middle is immobile. If you want puzzles that build on this skill, there's a sequence in the Nina Ottosson series that you could use to work your cat up to a complex puzzle that I think is pretty cool. In addition, you want to replace the problem area with something for them – if they want to be up on the counters so they can see what you’re doing, give them a tall cat tree in the same room and treat them when they use it. Keeping the area clear of anything attractive – if they’re on the counters looking for food, make sure the food is cat-proofed and the counters are clean. SSSCAT Deterrent Cat Spray – this is a motion-activated and harmless spray ( ) Strong (but pet-safe) citrus smells/sprays. You can put that on surfaces/furniture/cables– you can wrap these around mats or cardboard if tape will ruin the surface or you need to be able to access the areas sometimes.
